Music Program Information Page

The information provided here is designed to keep parents aware of the band, chorus, and music programs.  Parent support and involvement for these important activities is encouraged.  Parents can select the volunteer option icon at the left for a list of programs and activities where they can choose which area(s) they would like to volunteer.  Parents who indicate an interest at volunteers@palos118.org will have their information sent to the respective band, chorus, or music teacher.

The Music Parents Association is undergoing a rebuilding program during the 2011-12 school year.  Input into future parent support of our band, chorus and music programs will be solicited through a survey and meeting this fall as the rebuilding process moves forward.   Student band, chorus, and music programs will continue at the same high level in 2011-12 school year.  A full calendar of events is included in the Palos 118 annual calendar and handbook.  Parents have an opportunity to be involved and supportive of the band, chorus, and music programs through volunteers@palos118.org or the respective band, chorus, and music directors.

New parents are welcome and encouraged to become involved.  We need you!

Harvest Fest 2011

A Note of Thanks!

Dear Music Parents:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for making last Friday’s Harvest Fest a phenomenal success! It was a proud moment watching Palos South come alive as we were treated to the musical gifts of your children.  Parents, grandparents, and honored guests, came together in a festive atmosphere, with beautiful decorations and outstanding food. The District 118 music directors, put on a fabulous show for all of us. A special thank you goes out to Sue Boyd for her hard work, creativity and leadership in co-chairing the event. We had record numbers of parent volunteers, and we thank each and every one of you for giving up a portion of your day(s) to help the event run so smoothly. Also, we would like to thank all of the families that made monetary donations to the Palos music programs. The students will benefit from your generosity!!

In the near future, we will send out communication with the exact amount of money that was raised at the event, but here are a few of the preliminary numbers:

·         Over 460 people were in attendance for the three dinner times. After costs are taken out, this will leave the music programs with a considerable donation.

·         94 colored mugs were sold at a profit of $470.

·         Almost $1900 was raised in monetary donations from families with more money trickling in.

Parents and families, thanks again for your support of our students, as they continue to grow and develop their significant musical talents.

Regards,
